The Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey is excited to announce that it has partnered with California Professional Firefighters to offer all PFANJ members accounts with the Personal Exposure Reporting (PER) website. This site offers an easy, secure and comprehensive method of recording your exposure to cancer-causing chemicals and biological toxins.

PFANJ PEER COUNSELING

The stresses faced by fire service members throughout the course of their careers – incidents involving children, violence, inherent dangers of firefighting and other potentially traumatic events – can have a cumulative impact on mental health and well-being.  Peer support programs have been demonstrated to be an effective method for providing support to occupational groups, including fire fighters.

RICCI ACT

With the new Public Law 157 (P.L. 2019, c. 157) the Bill Ricci World Trade Center Rescue, Recovery, and Cleanup Operations Act, retired members might be eligible for an amended existing retirement to an accidental disability retirement benefit if you are or may become disabled due to working or volunteering in the rescue, recovery, or cleanup operations at the World Trade Center site between September 11, 2001, and October 11, 2001.

9-11 ZADROGA ACT

The 9/11 Zadroga Health & Compensation Act provides free health care and compensation for those diagnosed with cancer who were South of Canal Street and exposed to the World Trade Center toxic dust between September 11, 2001 and May 30, 2002.
